PROJECT OVERVIEW / ACTIVE
Backups, monitoring & update policies
The operating layer of my environment: Grafana visibility, backups, and workload-specific decisions about updates.
The challenge
A useful computing environment needs to remain manageable after the first deployment. I treat monitoring, backups, and updates as part of the platform, alongside the resources that run the applications.
My approach
My environment combines Grafana monitoring and backup infrastructure with an explicit approach to updates. Johnaverse Fleet supports controlled changes across the fleet, while Watchtower provides an automatic update path for appropriate container workloads.
The policy depends on the workload. The operating question is how a change fits the service, what visibility is available afterward, and how recovery fits into the same workflow.
My contribution
I integrate and operate this layer around my own cloud, container, and AI projects. Earlier work in cloud support and recovery planning informs the way I think about keeping the environment usable over time.
Current scope
This work continues as the environment evolves. It connects the provisioning side of infrastructure as code to the ongoing responsibility of observing, updating, and recovering the systems it creates.
